We've all heard the saying "it takes a village," but so many of us are still trying to do it all alone, terrified to admit we need support.
We think being strong means never burdening others with our problems, but then we end up drowning in the weight of our own unmet needs.
Here's the truth:
Seeking support isn't selfish or weak. In fact, it requires courage and strength.
When we say "I can't do this alone," we're not a burden. We’re simply giving people the gift of allowing them to help us, to show up for us in all the ways we've shown up for them.
It feels scary to let our people see us in our messier moments. But when we are vulnerable, we create connection.
So, my fellow independent warriors, what if we shifted to interdependence? What if we saw challenges as opportunities to expand our support systems and connect with others?
The next time you catch yourself thinking "I don't want to bother anyone," pause for a moment.
Think for a minute about who might be out there just itching to help you.
You probably wouldn’t say no if they asked you for help. So trust them to hold space for you and support you.
Then sit back and enjoy the connections as well as the help.
